The Human Inc.

The Human Inc. is a comic that combined art with Biology to inform young audience about the biological processes happening inside our bodies. While studying Biology in high school, I was amazed by the complex and beautiful mechanisms of the human body, which were, however, often overlooked. I believe my comic can provide more insight into our bodies and help young people understand the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.

Character Designs for
The Human Inc.

I designed my characters based on chemical structures, 3d shape models, and electro-magnetic microscopic images of enzymes and cells in real life.

Shaping My Path

This picture book is inspired by the experience of my female-identifying friends of being discouraged to pursue Biology in high school due to gender stereotypes. Later, I found out many women in STEM field have similar experiences who face gender discrimination and extra difficulty in their education and career. I want to use the story of finding one’s own path on a journey as a metaphor of finding one’s meaning of life. The target audience of this book is children and teenagers, though I believe the message also applies to adults.

Printing and Binding

I chose to use coptic binding and also hand sew my book because sewing is considered as a feminine activity throughout history.

On the cover and back cover of the book, I cut out the mountains traveled by the protagonist in the book, and then hand stitched her path. I want to add my personality and labor to this book by doing this.

I Want to Be Helvetica

A comic about my exploration of identity.

Splinter

A comic about co-existing with trauma.

Make a Bet!

Make a Bet! is a rough comic I made in 2 days about my Original Characters who are a pair of siblings running an underground casino in a dystopian, post-apocalypse world.
